Abstract

In the last 20 years, Brazil has stood out for the intensification of agricultural production, mainly in the Cerrado region with the production of soybeans, which has become the main product of the agro-export agenda and the country. This work analyzes the movement of soybean production in the Cerrado and its impact on the development of road infrastructure and the occupancy rate in the agricultural sector from 1975 to 2020, based on monitoring the displacement of the average center of the soybean planted area in the Cerrado. As a result, the displacement of production was initially identified, the concentration of which was in the north of the state of São Paulo, towards the Central-West region, with signs that in subsequent years the average center of soybean production had moved in the north and northeast direction. Regarding the development of infrastructure in the region, it can be concluded that the implementation of highways took place in a heterogeneous manner, starting in the same regions where the average center of soybean production traveled.
