Abstract

This exploratory and interdisciplinary work sought to bring together intersections between Heavy Metal culture and geodiversity, focusing on textual/landscape expressions of songs, albums and bands of the musical genre. To this end, we sought to combine the theoretical support of the Geography of Music and the meaning of soundscape with the technical/cartographic support of geo-visualization as a possibility of disseminating the results. It was seen, from data collected in the Encyclopaedia Metallum, that aspects of geological, geomorphological and hydrological interest have iconographic and sound reverberations in Heavy Metal, which were transmitted through specific characteristics of its subgenres and represented in a web gis application simplified.
