Abstract

The present manuscript aims to characterize, as well as understand, the genetic and evolutionary factors of closed depressions located in the municipality of João Pessoa, state of Paraíba, Brazil. For that, structural, morphological and morphometric aspects related to this relief were considered. The methodological procedures proposed by Williams (1972) were adopted for the morphometric analysis of closed depressions. For this purpose, a DEM elaborated with data from the LiDAR laser was used, with a spatial resolution of 2 meters. The data obtained showed that the mapped closed depressions present a pattern of shape, are aligned and tend to evolve to form a drainage head, connecting its drainage with the river drainage, according to the structural conditions observed in the study area.
