Abstract

This paper analyzes teaching characteristics which are implicit to the characters of the movie “The boy who harnessed the wind”. The film was compared to the students' teaching experiences. A dialogue about their representations and impacts on their/our practices in the classroom was conducted. We started to write during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. Through remote synchronous meetings with students of the degree course in Geography – Supervised Internship Discipline, we used the film as a didactic resource. The results show that the students were impacted by the skills, abilities and attitudes represented by the characters, reiterating practices they considered as positive while others were reprehensible examples. The conclusion demonstrates that the use of films in the education of the geography teacher can be a satisfactory tool when its complementarity is observed, as well as the objectives and adequate didactic-pedagogical mediation.
