Abstract

This article deals with the socio-environmental and health issues triggered by the structuring of Agribusiness in Brazil and especially in the Midwest and in Goiás. The issues are discussed in the light of the concepts of Territory and Food Sovereignty, presenting a brief history of the awareness of civil society about the harms of this model fostered by the global agri-food empire. In this context, we bring reflections on strategic practices for the construction of Food Sovereignty in the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia. The experience of the Agroecological Interinstitutional Fair, based on the teaching-research-extension tripod, is presented and discussed. Based on this experience, the objective was to analyze how this articulation can enhance the possibility of access to healthy food, broadening the debate on the importance of its consumption, based on the educational role provided by the farmer / consumer approach.

Keywords: agroecological production; peasant agriculture; University Extension; socio-territorial development.
