Abstract

This work has as a purpose to present theoretician and methodological aspects associated to Representation in Education. The used methodology in question, Mental Mapping, is referred by Geography of the Representations. The developed mental maps in this research have showed the representations of Geography constructed by a group of students in 6th grade, evidencing a correspondence among the teacher practice, the school and the geographic learning. Therefore, such methodology, allied to the hermeneutics that is part of the concept of Generation of Ambience Environments, made possible to catalyze the daily practice of the students, as well as the understanding of the concept of geography built by the group. Such events have promoted the learning, supplying subsidies to think - or rethink - some elements and processes belonging to school geography. Key-Words: Geography of the Representations, geography teaching, maps, Generation of Ambience.
