THE INFLUENCE OF THE URBAN GREEN AREAS IN QUALITY OF LIFE: The case of the Parks of the Sabiá and Victório Siquierolli in Uberlândia-MG

Abstract

Taking into account the importance of environmental quality for the quality of life, this study aimed to analyze the influence exerted by the Parks and Sabiá Victório Siquierolli – located in the city of Uberlandia, Minas Gerais – the surrounding homes. It is known that environmental quality is an important indicator of quality of life, and urban green areas – classified as categories of building spaces – play an important role in this context, since their functions range from the ecological benefits themselves – sorely needed in the city – even the venues for leisure and recreation, targeted to the population. Methodologically, research was done through semistructured questionnaire in the vicinity of the two parks, and as a result of respondents disposed to review charts and maps in environmental quality. It was possible to see some specifics around each study area, taking on aspects such heterogeneity as an extension of the park, vegetation density, urban in environment – roads, vehicle traffic, among others – use for leisure and recreation, among others. Finally, he noted the importance that green space to have the quality of life, especially in urban areas, thus reinforcing the attention should be given to this issue, both in academic and scientific research, and in policies governmental public.
