Fantastic fabulous fairy: trans-articticity for new gender pedagogies for the children

By creating a parallel between gender issues and child education and proposing an idea of trans-artisticity, the article presents and analyzes the solo play “Fantastic Fabulous Fairy”, from Armando AZVDO, as an artwork that entertains, communicates, and proposes reflections about new gender pedagogies to children and adults, in a social context in which the belief that “boys dress in blue and girls in pink” still reigns. Using the playful universe of fairy tales as its basis and trans-artistically integrating Circus, Theater and Dance, the play was produced in 2023 under finance and institutional support from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), based on the Pibexa 2023 artistic experimentation announcement, as well as support from the Artistic Mobility 2023 Scholarship from FUNARTE, agency connected to the Ministry of Culture of the Federal Government. This article, in addition to reflecting on the themes raised by the play, will address its development process and analyses its dramaturgy and its potential for pedagogical and social impact through sharing the impressions of children and adults, students and educators, who watched the work and delivered rich feedback to a documentary video produced with funding from FUNARTE.
