This article represents an effort to value black aesthetics in the context of dance creation. The interest is related to the criticism of racism developed in the choreographic work of Tiago Oliveira, a black choreographer from Rio, Brazil. Therefore, a discussion is organized on the colonial situation as a structuring phenomenon of a development model based on the logic of exploitation and violence. In addition, an idea of the black scenes as policies of struggle and resistance is defended. Methodologically, a case study is elaborated on the works of Tiago Oliveira, seeking to share the processes of thought, creation and political activism that are classified in the dramaturgy of two of his choreographic pieces: Vira-lata and À Margem.
