The “Malandro” Type Character and its Constitution in Brazilian Social Imagery

Abstract

Abstract: This article investigates the type of the “malandro”  and its figuration in Brazilian popular tradition, regarding the musical theater in Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian Popular Music, with the intention to affirm that its constitution in the country's social imagery is an alternative form of integration, perhaps the only possible one, to a  high proportion of the excluded people.

Author Biography

Daniel Marques da Silva, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

Bacharel em Artes Cênicas com Habilitação em Direção Teatral pela Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1989), Mestre em Teatro pela Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1998) e Doutor em Artes Cênicas pela mesma instituição (2004). Pós-Doutor em Artes pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (2014). É Professor Associado de Interpretação Teatral da Escola de Teatro da Universidade Federal da Bahia. Atualmente está cedido por meio de Acordo de Cooperação Técnica ao Bacharelado em Direção Teatral da Escola de Comunicação e ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes da Cena da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2016-2020). Desenvolve pesquisas e leciona na área das Artes Cênicas, com especial dedicação aos estudos sobre o trabalho do ator, a arte do palhaço, circo, comicidade, teatro brasileiro, teatro musicado e cultura popular.
