Life as art: Pierre Verger and the search for the sublime for any moment in Andalusia

This article aims to demonstrate that Pierre Verger found in life a way to give corporeality and a face to the notion of the human. This is done through three hypotheses about Verger’s photography. The first, through historical comparison and analysis of his photographic ethnography, states that Verger sought the random moment. The second proposes that Verger sought the sublime. In conclusion, the third hypothesis is that the photographer had a neohumanist orientation. All analysis is based on the work "Pierre Verger. Andalucía 1935. Resurección de la memoria", which brings together photographs taken by Verger during his stay in the region.
