A INVASÃO DA ETIÓPIA, PAN-AFRICANISMO E A OPINIÃO AFRICANA INTERNACIONAL

Resumo

Qual a relação entre a invasão da Etiópia em 1934, uma organização política Pan-Africana surgida no final da década de 1930 na cidade de Londres, e o desenvolvimento de uma opinião africana internacional? Abordarei neste artigo como as trajetórias de George Padmore e C.L.R. James, dois importantes intelectuais de Trinidad que organizaram o International African Service Bureau (1937-1943), e o jornal International African Opinion (1938-1939) podem auxiliar na compreensão da grande influência exercida por intelectuais da diáspora negra tanto na derrocada do colonialismo quanto na crítica ao estudos coloniais, através de textos dotados de uma epistemologia própria e propositiva de uma percepção transnacional da África. George Padmore e C.L.R. James, intelectuais caribenhos, militantes comunistas, homens que experimentaram os deslocamentos da diáspora e articularam lutas anticoloniais e anti-imperiais tiveram atuação central em todo este processo.

Biografia do Autor

Pablo de Oliveira de Mattos, PUC Rio

Doutor pelo Programa de Pós Graduação em História Social da Cultura na Puc-Rio, bolsista CAPES, sob orientação do Professor Dr. Maurício Parada, em pesquisa sobre o pensamento radical negro e a atuação política de George Padmore, líder Pan-Africano da Diáspora Negra. Participou do Programa de Doutorado Sanduíche no Exterior PDSE/CAPES, sob a co-orientação do Professor Dr. Hakim Adi, na Universidade de Chichester, West Sussex, Inglaterra, no período de abril de 2017 até outubro de 2017. Faz parte do grupo de pesquisa credenciado pelo CNPq, Intersecções Africanas, sediado na PUC-Rio, sob coordenação do Professor Dr. Leonardo Pereira. Mestre em História, foi bolsista CAPES do Programa de Pós-Graduação em História Social da Cultura da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro - PUC - Rio. É, também, Bacharel e Licenciado em História pela mesma Universidade, tendo sido bolsista PIBIC/CNPq e atuado no grupo de pesquisa Democracia, Nação e Desenvolvimento no cenário intelectual de 1950 sob orientação do professor Dr. Luis Reznik. Atuou na formação continuada de professores no projeto Pró-Licenciatura do MEC em parceria com a PUC - Rio e a UERJ. Foi Professor Tutor do curso de licenciatura em História na modalidade à distância. Atuou na orientação de Trabalhos de Conclusão de Curso no curso de especialização em Tecnologias da Educação oferecido pelo CCEAD/PUC - Rio. Trabalhou como consultor de projetos pedagógicos da Fundação Roberto Marinho em diversos estados do Brasil. Atua na educação básica como docente na area de História. Entre 03/2018 e 02/2020 atuou na implementação (acompanhamento, monitoramento e formação em serviço) do programa de Ensino Médio em Tempo Integral, parceria entre Instituto Ayrton Senna e SEEDUC-Rio de Janeiro.
