Reflexões sobre a deriva e o fazer projetual em paisagismo

We discover the world as we move through it; we invent the new as what already exists reveals itself before us. In general terms, with regard to the projective making of the landscape, one assumes in the reflections presented here the perspective that no invention can be so absolutely innovative that it does away with the contact with what precedes it, with the preexistences, with the materiality of the landscape; on the other hand, it seems reasonable to suppose that the unveiling of what already exists, but which has not hitherto been recognized, also corresponds to a form of invention. These assumptions are supported, above all, in the reflections of the geographer Jean-Marc Besse on the landscape, understood as a phenomenological experience, and of its relations with the projectual making.
