Abstract

In order to evaluate the effects of different doses of mineral and organic fertilizers in the organoleptic properties of the lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) this trial was carried out in dark-red latosol with nine treatments (combination of the levels 0 kg.ha-1, 18,500 kg.ha-1 and 36,900 kg.ha-1 of organic fertilizer with levels 0 kg.ha-1, 870 kg.ha-1 and 1,750 kg.ha-1 of mineral fertilizer), and three repetitions. Color, flavour, smell and durability in refrigerator of the lettuces harvested at 70 DAE were evaluated. It was observed that the maximum time to keep the product under refrigeration, adequate for feeding, is about 10 days. The doses of 18,500 kg.ha-1 of organic fertilizer in addition to 1,750 kg.ha-1 of mineral fertilizer provided appropriate color, very clear to the human vision, improving flavour and smell, making lettuce leaves more appetizing.
