Abstract

The study comprises an effort to set up estimation of labor power demanded in a set of agricultural activities, related to crop systems and sazonality. It is based on empirical data collected from the extension official service and direct information from farmers in all agricultural regions of the Goiás State. An analysis of secondary data from IBGE indicated regions of relevance in area and production of main crops and data files were created for crop patterns and labor usage, by region and estimations, proceeded using a software developed by Fundação Seade, in Campinas, São Paulo. The results show strong declines, over time, both in supply and demand for labor in agriculture in the studied area. Corn and soybeans seem to be the basis for labor absorption and so is sugar cane for their area extension, showing evidences of low diversity of agricultural activities in the State.
