Abstract

This study was carried out at the Aviculture Department of Escola de Veterinária - UFG, in April 1993. Its objective was to determine the importance of turmeric as a natural pigment in chicken for slaughter carcass and also verify its importance for the performance of this specific poultry. The information acquired through this research have allowed us to conclude that the levels of turmeric studied have not improved carcass pigmentation nor hindered the weight gain of chickens.

KEY-WORDS: Turmeric; aviculture; pigments.
