SPECIES OF SCARABAEIDAE (INSECTA: COLEOPTERA) COLLECTED IN CATTLE DUNG PATS AND PIG CARCASS IN ITUMBIARA, GOIÁS, BRASIL.

The study of the Scarabaiedae associated with cattle dung pats and with pig carcass in the region of Itumbiara, Goiás, Brazil. Twenty samples of bovine dung were taken at random, each month, from pats eight days old, placed in plastic containers and taken to the laboratory. Pig carcass Sus sp. was selected as bait. Two baits were exposed to the enviroment conditions in two different places: pasture and forest area, the former in the presence of sunlight and the latter in absence of it. Scarabaiedae were extracted using Berlese funnel. The most frequent species were: Ataenius aequalis (cattle dung) and Trichillum externepunctatum (pig carcass).
