Abstract

The study was conducted at the Departament of Animal Science, Escola Superior de Agricultura de Lavras, Lavras, Minas Gerais, from July, 1980 to October, 1981. It was designed to compare the voluntary consumption and the nutritional value of the hays at three different stages. That hay was harvested at 60, 90 and 120 days. The voluntary consumption and nutritional value of the hays were determined by using 12 (twelve) sheep in metabolic cages. The experiment was divided into three parts. Each one was statistically analyzed on a 3 x 2 factorial scheme with two repetitions within a completely random experimental design. At the end, the collected data were statistically analyzed as one single experiment.
