LAND AND ITS ASSOCIATION WITH IRON DEXTRAN IN THE PERFORMANCE OF PIGLETS
Abstract
This research was developed in the Central Pig Farm in the county of Senador Canedo in Goiás State. Litters from 15 Large White sows were used to investigate the effect of feeding ground and its association with iron dextran to piglets from the third day of age. The evaluation of the effects of the treatments in the development of the piglets was done at 21 and 35 days of age. The treatments were as follow: T1 - 100 mg of iron dextran, via intramuscular, at the third day of age; T2 - 50 mg of iron dextran, via intramuscular, at the third day of age in association with 1.0 kg of ground, fed daily from the third to the 35th day of age; T3 - 2.0 kg of ground, daily, from the third to the 35th day of age. After observing the conditions in which the experiment was realized, it was concluded that: 1. The substitution of 50 mg iron dextran for 1 kg of ground daily, from the third to the 35th day of age is so efficient as 100 mg of iron dextran injected intramuscular at the third day of age; 2. The feeding of two kilos of ground daily from the third to the 35th day of age had a less efficient result than the other treatments.
