Abstract

Cotton cultivars performance was studied in six counties of Goiás State, Brazil, from latitude 17°43'S to 15°18'S, 1ongitude 50°35’W to 48°07’W and altitude from 620 to 800m. Cultivars IAC—12 and IAC—l3 were tested in four dates of planting with a 15-day interval from Oct. 1st  to November 15th , during a period of 9 years. The first fifteen days of October proved to be the best time for cotton planting in the regions studied. It was also observed that an increase in latitude determines a negative effect in yield due to the delay in planting.
