Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the crop coefficient (kc), diffusion resistance and leaf water potential coffee, Catucaí cultivar, in blooming and grain formation phases, submitted to two irrigation system management. The coffee evapotranspiration was determined by soil water balance, and crop evapotranspiration was assessed by Penman-Monteith (FAO-56) method. The irrigation application times were determined in two management systems: based on the percentage wetted area (P), and based on the location coefficient (Kl). The results allowed to conclude that the irrigation management using the location coefficient provided an increase of the irrigation application time, and, consequently, increasing the irrigation depth and the crop coefficient values, which reached the mean of 1.12. For the management system based on the percentage wetted area, the mean value of the crop coefficient, in the appraised period, was 1.06. The mean diffusion resistance and leaf water potential were lower when the management system was adopted with base in Kl, which provided an increase of the transpiration and, consequently, of kc.

KEY-WORDS: Evapotranspiration; diffusion resistance; leaf water potential.
