EFFECT OF FUNGICIDES IN THE TREATMENT OF SEEDS OF CORN (Zea mays L.), IN THE CONTROL OF Fusarium moniliforme (SHELD)
Keywords:
Fusarium, seeds, corn, Zea maysAbstract
This biossay was developed at the Escola de Agronomia of the Universidade Federal de Goiás, in Goiânia (GO). The objective was to evaluate the effect of fungicides applied individually or not on corn seeds for the control of Fusarium moniliforme. Amounts in grams of the active ingredient for each 100kg of seeds were: fungicidal tolyfluanid (50 and 75), tolyfluanid + metiltiofanato (50 + 40 and 50 + 50), captan 750 (120). The incidence of Fusarium moniliforme in the seeds, the seed germination and the weight of the green aerial part were evaluated. All the treatments were efficient in the reduction of fungal incidence in the seeds. Regarding to emergency and to weight of the aerial part, the mixtures tolyfluanid + metiltiofanato didn’t differ statistically each other and were superior to the non treated control. There was no statistical difference among the other treatments and the control.
KEY-WORDS: Fusarium; seeds; corn; Zea mays.
