ENUMERATION OF Staphylococcus IN RAW MILK
Abstract
The present study checked the number of positive Staphylococcus coagulase in raw milk in milk cans at the source of production. Sixty-three samples were collected, right after morning milking (both by hand and machine) on properties in the milk belt surrounding metropolitan Goiânia-GO, where 16 counties, and 33 milk farms were chosen at random. Staphylococcus coagulase checked out positive in 45 samples (71.4%) and the enumerations varied between 1.9 X 10¹ UFC/ml and 8.9 X 10^4 UFC/ml. The average count was 5.3 x 10³ UFC/ml.
