Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study is a theoretical discussion, which aims to rethinking the attendance to the mental health, its possible implications and articulations for the development of mental health actions inside the family health strategy. In this article, the importance of a technical support for the family health team was considered, in another words, the support of a mental health team and the accomplishment of trainings and orientations with the family health teams, propitiating a better performing of the service in relation to this demand type, as well as, larger participation of the users who are psychic suffering carriers and their families. The family health, as it relates to a strategy offered as basic attendance and as the user's "entrance door" in the health service, has a lot of possibilities for also attending the mental health in its humanized practices of attendance to these users who had been outside of this "door" for a long time, a lot of times they were excluded from these cares and from the basic services. The person who suffers, as well was his or her family, need to be assisted in his or her real needs and the family health team need to be organized and prepared to attend them in their own community. KEY WORDS: Family Health; Mental Health; Mental Health Services.
