Abstract

Communication is an important aspect in the nursing care toward a more qualified assistance. Thus, communication potentially contributes to promote the emotional care. This study aimed at reflecting the emotional care interfaces to the hospitalized client, in order to improve the quality of the nursing assistance. This reflection arises from clients’ emotional problems observed in our daily professional routine and by consultation of specialized literature regarding emotional necessities of hospitalized subjects. In order to use the emotional care, nurses must be good listeners, examining with care and touching our clients, comforting and helping them to recover their self-esteem. We consider from our reflections that emotional care to the hospitalized client is crucial for achieving a better quality of life, not only from the client, but also to the family.
