Abstract

SUMMARY: The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze individual representations at a psychosocial care center regarding psychiatric treatment. Interviews were held with 11 individuals at the Psychosocial Care Center. The data was analyzed according to Bardin using the moscoviscian social representation theory as a methodological-theoretical reference. The data analysis helped define one categorie. The categorie, to be treated is to be cared for/or not – was outlined on the care attributed to psychiatric treatment such as care in psychiatric treatment violence and closed institutions.
