Abstract

This paper tells about a nursing intervention based on the caring relationship as an instrument to diminish early wean. During three months four mothers who were suckling their babies were visited by two undergraduate nursing students. The efficacy of this intervention was evaluated using the data of semi structured interviews which were analyzed by qualitative methods. The results shows that the domiciliary health visiting is an important way to establish a caring relationship between the healthcare professionals and the mothers. So it enables a healthcare assistance in accordance with the singularities of breast feeding a child. KEY WORDS: breast feeding, public health, primary health care
