Abstract

The qualitative research as methodological option is more and more present in the nursing studies. It is a modality that allows the use of the technology of groups to collection of data. Technical – theoretical basis is required to work with a group. Therefore, this article aims to discuss the use of the operative group (OG) as a method of collection in qualitative research and the implications to the researcher referring to the performance of the roles of coordinator and/ or observer. The option of OG as collection of data method offers to the researcher the register of oral discourse, besides others diverse ways of communication and the relationship in the group. The technique guides the planning, the functioning and the analysis of the group and of the research itself. It makes possible to the researcher/coordinator more assertive actions referring to the methodological conduction of the study. We consider that the relevance of the OG application in the qualitative research in nursing is significant and, it is up to the interested nurse to seek the construction of such know-how, since in his or her formation the teamwork is not a privilege.
