Abstract

A thought-provoking article that objective was to discuss about the subjectivity that permeates the nursing caring process to children in postoperative pain, grounded by professional practice and literature review. Caring a child in postoperative pain demands unique skills and attitudes such as observation, perspicacity, listening and presence. That is the only way to perceive the subjectivity of the child experiencing pain, which will set the best way to plan human care suitable to his/ her evidenced needs. The recognition of the subjectivity that permeates the care process effects as one more tool for the refinement process of sympathetic human care, the major nursing pursuit along its history.
