Dentist expectation about the insertion of oral health in the family health program

Abstract

Motivated to identify possible problems faced by PSF in the city of Mossoró-RN-Brazil specially the oral health, to contribute to the improvement of this strategy, we decided to do a research among dentists of this program, to comprehend their insertion and degree of participation. Data were collected from a questionnaire from March to July of 2006 with open and closed questions where it was tried to analyze the perception of this professionals concerning to their performance, qualification, population’s satisfaction, managers’ recognition and valorization, thus the salary paid. After the answers analysis we identify that the most of the professionals is satisfied with their performance, most of them did not participate of the introductory course and they don’t know the SUS directives; they agree that the user is satisfied with their work, but they don’t know to inform if the manager recognizes the work developed by the oral health staff, and consider that they could earn a better salary. It was noticed that it will be necessary a bigger investment in qualification and incentive to the health improvement policies, so that the professionals can do their roles productively and work in an integrated and integrating way, aiming, according to the administration principles, the total quality.
