This is a descriptive study in a qualitative perspective, with the objective to understand the meaning of humanization assistance for a group of eight (8) nurses working in the Intensive Care Units in Cuiabá-MT. The data had been collected through semi structured interviews, from july to august 2005, oriented by the following questions: How do you see the question of the humanization? How is this humanization in your UTI? The analysis was based on thematic analysis technique and was accomplished through three thematic points: the work of the nursing in UTI; the meaning of the humanization and the reality of the humanization in the UTIs studied. Despite the nurses recognized the importance of giving an integral assistance, they still have daily work with innumerable difficulties to accomplish a humanized assistance.Downloads
