Repercussions of the variability on intensive nurse’s health

Abstract

Qualitative and descriptive study, that had as object the influence of the situations of variability in the health of the intensive nurse. It was objectified to identify variability situations and to argue the repercussions of the variability in the health of the intensive nurse. The information had been collected in a Center of Intensive Therapy (CTI) of a hospital of the private net of health in Rio de Janeiro. The citizens had been 13 intensive nurses in performance in this CTI have at least one year. The collection instrument was half-structuralized interview, carried through between September/2006 and October/2006. The method of content analysis was used. The treatment of the information demonstrated that the nurses know the variability situations and that these modify the process health-illness, resulting in irritability, rise of the arterial pressure, fatigue, pains, muscular tension and stress. However, the occurrences of some situations of variability are susceptible to be restricted. Strategies of confrontation had been pointed and they pass by since the systematization of the assistance, until better wages, conditions of work and the self-knowledge. It was concluded that the nurses live deeply in its labor routine many situations of variability, implying in the fast mobilization of its psychophysics and cognitive potentialities, rebounding negatively in its health.
