Group of support: space of rehabilitation for mastectomized women

This is an study to describe, through a report of experience, the dynamics of a support group for the mastectomized women. The study is descriptive and retrospective and was done through consultations to documents, minute book, pictures, recordings and works related to the group GEPAM (Group of Teaching, Research and Assistance the Mastectomized women) from 1998 to the current days. The data were organized in report form with the description of the important historical and chronological events of the group. The activities which took place systematically were: corporal exercises, solemnity-expressive activities, educational workshops, plastic arts through several courses and leisure activities. The study allowed rescuing the benefits of a support group for the well-being of mastectomized women, aiming at the recovery of the psychosocial equilibrium and the quality of life, allowing them to return to the fullness of their professional, social and emotional activities, supporting their total rehabilitation.Downloads
