Unity of Attention for the Elderly: activities, changes in daily life and suggestions

With the increase in life expectation of emerging new demands for social and health care to the elderly population. The nursing should add multi professional efforts with the team aiming to contribute to the maintenance of the independence and autonomy of the elderly, social spaces in health promotion. This study objectives is to describe the socio-demographic characteristics of the elderly visitors of the Unit of the Aged Care (UAI), located in the municipality of Uberaba-MG, and the activities carried out by older people at the site, identifying changes in their daily after attend the UAI and suggestions for activities. Data were collected, during July and August the year 2007, from a 39 elderly and after, submitted to the distribution of frequency analysis and thematic second Bardin.1 The majority of respondents were female (87.1%), with 4 to 8 years of study (66.7%), retired (84.7%) and monthly income individual of 1 minimum wage (59%). The activities carried out are: hidroginástica (28%), dance (15.8%), gymnastics (14%) and stretching (13.1%). The analysis highlighted the thematic categories: hanges in the positioning social (32.1%) improvement in the conditions of health (27%) and Activities in the UAI (40.9%). The participation of the elderly in the activities of the UAI led positive changes in the lives of users, providing improvements in their quality of life.Downloads
