The anesthetic-surgical procedure is part of health care, contributing to the prevention of harm to physical integrity and loss of lives. As a strategy to reduce these events to the World Health Organization launched the campaign "safe surgeries save lives." The aim of this study was to discuss the actions related to patient’s safety during surgery, based on the available studies in the site of the World Health Organization, about the advance in the performance of safe procedures with the implementation of a Checklist in the systematization of care recommended in the surgery center, that ensure high efficiency and low cost. The study explains and discusses strategies of using the Checklist System, presenting specific actions that permeate three times the anesthetic-surgical procedure. The implementation of the Checklist gives the range of the correct procedure for the right team and right patient, in order to establish safe procedures in surgery.
