Abstract
The relationship between housing dynamics (in its absolute, relative and relational dimensions) and urban mobility are studied through the case of Ribeirão Preto-SP, in Brazil, considering the production of the city and its territorial characteristics embodied by different types of urban habitat and, with regard to mobility, the ways people travel in their daily lives. The historical production of the city and housing represent, in the case of this city, the Brazilian urbanization in intermediate cities. In terms of methodological procedures, the main source of information was the interviews conducted with city dwellers, interpreted from the distinct and differentiating locations of the housing typologies implemented over the last sixty years in the city and that segment them between a grid area to the north, where the segments of lower income are concentrated and to the south, those of high incomes.
Key-words: housing production, mobility, center, Ribeirão Preto.
