Analyzes about the territory and its ordering have gained strength in recent decades, since the processes of (re)production of space have been re-signifying through the spatial planning according to interests, technical and capital availability. Such a complex and dynamic context is based on geographic concepts that are comprehensive, polysemic and far from consensus in relation to their definitions. Therefore, the objective of this article is to present a theoretical examination, passing through the concept of territory, its relation with the concept of space, and the innumerable conceptions of spatial planning, aiming at structuring an axiomatic theoretical-scientific base. For this, we are methodologically based on documentary and bibliographical research in works of Geography, as well as in other related areas. We verified that, despite the genuine absence of such consensus, the democratic challenge and the right of all to the territory are substantial, therefore, the deepening of such conceptual debates is essential.
