This article proposes the discussion of the concept of body-subject in Merleau-Ponty as a possibility of analysis of Brazilian Afro-Indian territoriality. We start from the conception that the bodies of Brazilian Afro-Indian religious produce territorialities. The body assumes the characteristic of an immediate territory of the religiosity. Religious spatiality is analyzed here by the category of territory. The text includes a conceptual theoretical debate, based on the author's field perceptions in the Candomblé courtyards in the state of Rio de Janeiro. We consider that the bodies control, affect and influence the space in which the ritual (gira or xirê) takes place through gestures and movements. In this way, the power and domain of space (its symbolic conformation) is given by cultural and religious practices through the action of the orixás and entities through incorporation.
