Indigenous people historically occupied the coastal zone and the hinterland of Ceará. The Tremembé ethnic group is present in the municipalities of Itapipoca, Itarema and Acaraú - CE. The aim of the study was to understand the meaning of the categories of landscape and territory, relating them to the identity and environmental perception of indigenous people in the communities of Barra do Mundaú and Almofala. The methodology of this article was qualitative and quantitative, with the application of a form and an interview related to the cognition of environmental perception in the Tremembé Indigenous Schools. The results obtained demonstrated a strong link between students, teachers and indigenous leaders with the coastal environment and its geodiversity.
