This article aims to understand, based on a dialogue between historical-dialectical materialism and the theory of weberian domination, the nuances of Brazilian social economic formation, mainly from the point of view of the production of urban space. The hypothesis raised here is that patrimonialist domination would present itself as a structural permanence because of the way in which the capitalist mode of production has historically developed in the country. This would lead to the existence of an urban patrimonial order, which has as spatial consequences, in the face of unequal competition due to State interference, contributing to the concentration and centralization of capital, the formation of spatial monopolies and the imposition of territorial domains, as is the case with the collective transport cartels found in Brazilian cities, and especially in Rio de Janeiro. In order to validate the discussion proposed here, a bibliographic and journalistic survey was used, as well as information was collected on the websites of transport companies and public institutions.
