The human modifications in the soil: a brief argument about the diversity of terms used

Abstract

The environmental modifications by human action is perceptible in different ways. The objective of this work
was to encourage an argument about possible reasons for many existing nomenclatures of soil altered by human
activities. For that, the main terms used in areas belonging to Geography, Geomorphology and Pedology.
In addition, the discussion required a previous debate on the concept of Anthropocene, since the author of this
article sees in this concept the key of the origin of the dozens of terms that make reference the same object of
analysis.
