Abstract

The riparian vegetation, due to its individual’s physiological conditions, provides a large quantity of organic debris to the fluvial courses. Different authors have propose the utilization of the term wood debris to all material of vegetal origin, as leaves, branches, boles and roots, that are found inside or on the bank of fluvial channels. The present paper is set to demonstrate the role of wood debris on the morphology and fluvial processes, by an evaluation of recent researches on the theme and contextualization starting from observations done in field works at Rio das Pedras and Rio Guabiroba, Guarapuava-PR.
