Abstract

The mass movements are, together with the flooding, one of the disasters with the highest degree of recurrence in the world and, therefore, are causing damages to companies, particularly in densely populated cities in hilly areas. However, often there is still no consensus among the concepts used by the various bodies of research and civil defense. Therefore, this work aims to review the literature of the concepts related to disasters as susceptibility, vulnerability, hazard and risk, seeking current concepts related
to the main types of mass movements and their characteristics.
