Abstract

This article comparatively analyzes the particularities of multifunctional productive clusters of tilapia farming in Western Paraná and Ilha Solteira (SP/MS), based on the category of analysis of geographic-economic complexity. Both agglomerations have high production volumes and insertion in the upper circuits of the urban economy, but they operate according to different territorial logics. In the West of Paraná, there is a multifunctionality based on agro-industrial cooperativism, with integration into dense circles of cooperation, while in Ilha Solteira a verticalized multifunctionality predominates, concentrated in large business groups. The research, based on secondary data, spatial analyses and fieldwork, highlights how these agglomerations materialize different technical-productive rationalities and forms of appropriation of territory, contributing to the debate on regional development, public policies and uses of territory in Brazil, especially the use of aquatic territory.
