Abstract

Street food in Bogotá has become a significant urban phenomenon that reflects the complex interaction between culture, economy and public space. As the city grows and becomes a modern metropolis, street food vending poses challenges for vendors, municipal authorities and residents alike. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of street food on the transformation of urban space in Bogotá, specifically between 2013 and 2023. The methodology was defined from a qualitative approach and the ethnography of places as a method. The results indicate that street food has played a crucial role in the revitalization of urban spaces and the adaptation of vendors to new regulations. The findings reveal that, although this activity contributes significantly to the economic vitality of certain areas, it faces challenges related to the regulation of public space, security and health.
