Abstract

This study carries out an analysis of the Hernández commercial passage located in the historic center of the city of Bogotá, to understand its configuration as a cultural space and emerging tourist destination and the tensions and conflicts that have arisen from its management. The methodological structure was defined from the qualitative approach and the method used was descriptive. The findings indicate that the Hernández commercial passage is moving towards a process of tourist heritage created by political and economic actors who establish other cultural and commercial dynamics, making the commercial passage a commodity for cultural consumption. It is concluded that conflicts in the use and appropriation of cultural heritage are evident in the commercial passage since its heritage activation through tourism shows that the forms of political and economic power seek to maintain their hegemony in the local order.
