Contemporary acceleration in the light of the technological revolution: an approach to capitalistic accumulation by digital means

Abstract

It is undeniable that the interaction between new information and communication technologies structures the current socio-spatial organization, which has assumed expressive functions in the processes of social, economic, productive, and territorial restructuring. Understanding the changes induced by technological development and improvement constitutes the main objective of this article, shedding light on new forms of effective organization and capital accumulation influenced by new media and digital platforms. The discussion presented considers that the technological revolution fueled the evolutionary potential of relationships, living, and feeling within the scope of the new regime of capitalist accumulation characterized by the appropriation and exploitation of data.
