Abstract

Tourism has become an important factor in the economy of countries. This sector, has been registering important mass movements around the world, in 2019, the tourism industry generated 10.4% of the world's Gross Domestic Product. The Covid-19 pandemic, which started at the end of 2019, limited all activities involving any form of human contact, these sanitary measures sought to control the rate of contagion, forcing various sectors to suspend their activities, until further notice. Through the study, it was possible to identify the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Peruvian tourism sector during the years 2019, 2020 and its perspective for the year 2021, in addition, sustainable tourism was proposed as a reactivation alternative in the face of the new normality in times of pandemic, based on the tourism reactivation proposals of some countries, whose studies coincide in a sustainable alternative for tourism reactivation and its possibilities of adaptation to national tourism, through the contextual analysis of sustainable tourism in Peru.
