Abstract

Household water insecurity occurs when circumstances of water scarcity impede the support of family well-being, causing daily disturbances and stress. Through the concept, this research investigated the municipality of Serra do Mel / RN, aiming to understand household water insecurity. To get at the results, 324 questionnaires were received in six villages, namely: Rio Grande do Norte village, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Amazonas, Piauí and Mato Grosso. The questionnaires presented questions about the quantitative availability of water for the household, experiences of residents with access to water, aspects of quality, stress, among others. The main results reveal that water insecurity is present in all villages, both in those that have wells for supply, and in villages that do not have them, with water insecurity problems at a quantitative and qualitative level.
