Abstract

This paper aims to meet part of the dynamics surrounding the Italian immigration to the region of state of Goiás. This process is part of a movement of desterritorialization that had its start in Italy of the nineteenth century culminating with a new territory in a region known today as Mato Grosso de Goias, where they settled and founded the cityof Nova Veneza. Thus, we intend to examine the way in which the integration of Italian immigrants in Nova Veneza occurred. For that, we used, broadly, the use of oral sources with the memory as the leitmotif of the whole process. The focus has been under the cultural geography taking into account the memories that the pioneers and their descendants report as evidence of life and the representations that their make of yours stories. In this study we sought rescue data from Italian culture, conveyed through reports of memories. We emphasized, however, one family in particular, that of Mr. Julho Eloy, making thus, a case study. Key-Words: cultural geography, Italian immigration, Nova Veneza.
